Canada to join International Trade Mark System

Note to trade mark owners with business interests in Canada.
From June 17 2019, the process of securing registered trade mark rights in Canada will be streamlined and more economical with Canada set to join over 100 other countries as members of the Madrid Protocol. This international treaty allows a trade mark owner to file a single trade mark application, designating one or more member countries. An International application is often the preferred option compared to filing separate applications in each country of interest.
